Located next to Australia's second largest international airport, Melbourne Aviation Precinct (MAP) is an aviation business park offering a wide range of services to the aviation maintenance sector. Comprising of two hangars, offices, a workshop and warehouse, MAP was originally constructed by Ansett Australia, and continues to grow and develop into one of Australia's largest aviation maintenance hubs.
Working with Restricted Access
Gaining access to the pump in question provided the first challenge for The All Purpose Pumps On-Road Service Team, as it was located in an 'airside' location. In order to gain access to this high security area, the On-Road Technicians were required to attain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) before any work could commence.
Located up multiple flights of stairs and surrounded by a bund wall which restricted physical access to the system, the existing pumps had not been replaced or serviced in a decade, leading to a loss of pressure and increasing levels of vibration, which had been causing disruption in adjacent offices.
Designing with the Future in Mind
The All Purpose Pumps On-Road Service Team recommended a HYBOOST Triplex Water Booster Pump System be installed to replace the existing pumps. The new system's modular design would allow for the pumps to be installed around the existing infrastructure, minimising service disruption, and leave room for future expansion if needed.
The new pumps were able to successfully provide the required flow and pressure to the MAP's buildings, but were more cost effective, quieter and less disruptive than the previous system. The All Purpose Pumps On-Road Service Team was able to remove the old pipework once the upgrade was complete, providing much easier access to the system for repair and maintenance work to be carried out.
Fast Resolution and Professional Service
From initial site inspection to commissioning the new system, The All Purpose Pumps On-Road Service Team was able to recommend, deliver and install the new HYBOOST system within three days, causing only one hour's disruption to MAP's water supply, much to the delight of the client:
"...your technicians were very professional. They clearly knew what they were doing and were confident in the work to be performed." - Client Testimonial.
